Further items may be carried if permission is sought. You may need to pay a charge for this.

The Eurostar luggage allowance is 2 pieces of luggage, each up to 85 cm in length, plus one item of hand luggage. There is no weight restriction but you must be able to carry your luggage yourself. Children between 4 and 11 years of age are allowed one piece of luggage up to 85 cm long, plus one piece of hand luggage.

Children under four have no baggage allowance as they also don’t need a ticket.

Pushchairs and prams may also be brought on board for free, in addition to standard luggage allowances. You must fold your pram and store it in the luggage racks provided.

Bikes may be brought on board South Western Railway trains, free of charge, but a space for your bike cannot be guaranteed. These spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. Bikes may be refused if the train is particularly busy and are not permitted at certain peak times. Bikes are not allowed to board or leave trains travelling to London Waterloo, Reading, Hook, Alton, Guildford and Dorking, when the train is expected to arrive at London Waterloo between 07.15 and 10.00, or on trains leaving Waterloo between 16.45 and 19.00. Nor are bikes allowed to join or disembark trains at stations between Clapham Junction, Feltham/Strawberry Hill and the Hounslow loop if the train is due to leave Clapham Junction between 07.45 and 09.00.

Spaces for bikes need to be reserved 24 hours in advance when travelling on trains between London Waterloo and Salisbury/ Exeter/ Bristol.

Review Translink/ NI Railways Luggage Allowance Before Travelling.

Translink allow small animals on board, free of charge, except before 09:30 am. Assistance dogs are permitted to board at any time. There is a limit of one animal per person. Animals must be small enough to be kept near the feet of the owner without causing obstruction and kept on a lead at all times. They must not be placed on a seat or table, otherwise a fine will be imposed.

Bikes can be carried for free except before 09:30 Monday to Friday. There is only space for 4 bikes at one time and this will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. You cannot reserve a space in advance.

Review Virgin Trains Baggage Allowance Before Travelling

Virgin allows their rail passengers to travel with a good amount of luggage. You can bring with you two items of larger luggage, not exceeding 30 x 70 x 90 cm. You may also carry one piece of hand luggage that could fit on your lap.

There is no specific weight restriction, but you have to be able to lift your luggage onto the train unaided.

The luggage allowed may also be dependent on available space on your train and, if carrying very large items, an additional charge may be levied.

2 pets can be brought on board free of charge.

Bikes can be brought on board, but space to store these is limited. You should, therefore, book a space for your bike in advance (this doesn’t apply to fold-up bikes). This is free of charge. Note that there is a specific carriage in which you can store your bike, so give yourself plenty of time to find it before the train is due to depart. You should also obtain a tag for your bike showing where it needs to be unloaded.

Your luggage can be placed either on the overhead luggage racks, under or behind your seat, or in the designated luggage areas near the doors. You can only place luggage on the seat beside you if have purchased a ticket for that additional seat.
