Dubai’s Remote Working VISA Program

Dubai is seeking to take advantage of the move towards remote working by luring long-term travelers with an exciting new visa program that will allow them to live in the United Arab Emirates while working for companies overseas.

According to the local government, Dubai’s remote working visa program will enable remote workers and their families the opportunity to relocate to the UAE for up to a year while continuing to work virtually for companies in destinations all over the world.

In recent years Dubai has gained a reputation as a leading leisure and business destination with a strong digital infrastructure and top-tier facilities while their handing of the coronavirus pandemic has been recognized and applauded.

Having started to welcome international visitors on July 7, the UAE has implemented rigorous hygiene and safety protocols enabling most hotels, restaurants, attractions, beaches, shopping malls and schools to reopen. In recognition of these efforts, The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has awarded Dubai the Safe Travels Stamp.

His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, director general of Dubai’s department of tourism and commerce marketing noted how the pandemic has changed how we live and work and said “the need to be physically present to fulfill professional responsibilities has been redefined,”

Indeed, remote working does seem to be becoming “the new normal” as some have called it with the biggest names in tech such as Twitter allowing their employees to work from home permanently.

Continuing, Almarri states “Dubai is uniquely position to offer a safe, dynamic lifestyle opportunity to these digitally savvy workers”.

The remote working visa program, open to those who earn a minimum of $5,000 per month, will give professionals access to all Dubai services including schooling and costs $287 plus medical insurance.
