Lufthansa Strike

German airline Lufthansa has cancelled hundreds of flights at its budget unit Eurowings following a cabin crew strike.

The 24- hour industrial action was called by the UFO union at midnight on Thursday after arbitration failed to reach an agreement late on Wednesday. Union members are demanding concessions on issues including pay, working conditions and pensions.

Lufthansa have confirmed the strike has affected 40,000 passengers and that approximately 400 flights have been cancelled.

The strike will affect the majority of German connections alongside other European flights.

Long-distance services and flights from Frankfurt and Munich have not been affected.

Eurowings - the Lufthansa subsidiary – which operates within UK airports including Heathrow, Manchester and Glasgow, have advised that affected customers can cancel or re-book free of charge.
