As well as sending baggage, luggage and parcels to Bangladesh, you could investigate the following options for shipping items internationally, which are more suitable for large, chunky items like a table or chairs:
Air Freight to Bangladesh
When sending big bulky items, like a coffee table or armchair, to Bangladesh, you could use air freight. Air freight normally takes one to two days, which is quicker than sea freight shipping, but generally more expensive. You need to also factor in the cost of paying for a customs agent to handle customs clearance and getting your items to and from the airport, which means that costs could quickly mount up. If you send internationally by air freight to Bangladesh your items will likely arrive at one of the major international airports, such as Osmani, Shah Amanat or Hazrat Shahjalal.
Sea Freight and Container Shipping to Bangladesh
A cheaper alternative is sea freight or container shipping. Sea freight is also good for bulky items, like a sofa or dining table. You will still need to use the services of a customs agent and will need to sort out how to get your items to and from the ports, which means the cost could be more than expected. When using container shipping to Bangladesh your items will most likely arrive by ship at a major sea port, such as Chittagong.

Important Bangladesh Customs Information
The owner of the shipped goods must be in Bangladesh at the time of customs clearance and items must arrive within 6 months of the owner’s arrival. There is no personal effects allowance and all shipments will be subject to the prevailing duties and taxes. The owner of the goods should be named as the shipper and receiver; the name must also match that on the passport used to clear the goods.
Shipments with a value over $100 may take an additional 72hrs to process.
General Customs Information
Personal effects are items that have been in the sender’s possession for at least six months. Most countries offer a duty-free allowance for personal effects, when means the majority of Send My Bag shipments will not be stopped by customs. Bangladesh, however, does not offer a duty-free allowance for personal effects and duties/taxes must be paid.
Duties/taxes will also need to be paid on brand new or commercial items. You should research beforehand what customs duties you will have to pay, follow any advice given by Bangladeshi customs, and attach any documentation required of you.
To show that you are sending only personal effects, and that duties for personal effects only need be levied, you must complete a packing list online, which should read as follows: "3 x Cotton Shorts, 2 x Jeans, 5 x Cotton T-shirt", and so on, rather than as "10 x Used Clothing".
Customs processes and allowances are different according to country, so we suggest all travelers take a few minutes to check how their personal circumstances and what they are sending will be assessed by Bangladeshi customs officials.
More information can be found on our customs information page.
