Baggage Shipping to Lithuania
Important Lithuania Customs Information
Most countries offer a generous duty free allowance for personal effects and the majority of Send My Bag™ shipments worldwide will not be stopped by customs.
Personal effects are usually assessed as used items which have been in the sender's possession for 6 months or more. If your bag is checked by customs and is found to contain brand new or commercial items your shipment may be assessed for customs duties and taxes. If you are sending Christmas gifts please check with the destination country so you are aware of potential customs duties, follow their advice and attach all necessary documentation.
Customs processes and allowances do vary by country and as such we advise all travellers take 5 minutes to check how their personal circumstances and what they are sending will be assessed under the prevailing customs regulations of the destination.
More information is available in on our customs information page.
In order to demonstrate your shipment is personal effects you will be required to complete a brief non generic packing list online, entries to be made in the format: "5 x Cotton T-Shirts, 2 x Jeans, 3 x Cotton Shirt" and so on rather than as "10 x Used Clothing".

Lithuania is a Eurozone country in Eastern Europe, the most southern of the Baltic States. It borders Latvia, Belarus, Poland and Kaliningrad, covers an area of 162 miles, and has a population of 3,505,738. Lithuanian is the country’s official language but a smaller proportion of the population speak Russian and Polish. Lithuania has a moderate climate, with an average temperature in summer of 60°F (July) and an average temperature in winter of 21°F (January).
The country’s capital is Vilnius, which has a population of 519, 000. Vilnius can be reached by plane from across Europe, landing at Vilnius International Airport. The city enjoys a spectacular Old Town showcasing baroque architecture. Among the most popular tourist attractions are St Anne’s Church, St Peter’s Church and St Paul’s Church. There is also a KGB Museum, on the site of the former KGB headquarters, which stands as a reminder of Lithuania’s oppressive past.
Outside the capital there are numerous areas of natural beauty to enjoy, including the Curonian Spit National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that stretches from Lithuania to Russia. The Curonian Spit is a beautiful example of a landscape of sand dunes and is 60 miles long and 2.4 miles wide. There is a road running the length of the Spit, so you can travel it by car (a bus service is also available). The Lithuanian end of the Spit also has a bicycle track from the northern tip to the town of Nida on the border with Russia.
Further inland you can enjoy pine forests and lakes, such as Dzūkija National Park, the country’s most extensive forest and largest protected area at 697 km2. Here you can enjoy views of the Ūla river exposure, go kayaking and angling in the many rivers, streams and lakes, and go walking and cycling on the 6 bicycle routes and footpaths. You may also come across some of the small villages within the forest, which speak to a by-gone era, with their wooden houses and unpaved streets.
WHY SHIP TO LITHUANIA?
Whether you are planning to visit Vilnius for a couple of days, or spend longer enjoying an activity vacation in Lithuania’s forests, SendMyBag can help make your journey a speedy and efficient one. You can have your luggage picked up from your doorstep or office and have it delivered to your hotel, ready and waiting for your arrival. You can also avoid the possibility of excess or oversized baggage fees by sending your sporting equipment, including hiking gear and bikes. Avoid standing in line at bag drop or luggage carousels and hop on and off public transport without having to drag your bags behind you.
Before sending your luggage unaccompanied there are some things to consider. SendMyBag prohibits the sending of liquids, aerosols, weapons, money or other restricted or illegal items; a full list is available on our website.
Electrical items such as tablets, laptops and cell phones, and glass or porcelain items can be sent, but only at the risk of the owners and are not covered by our included insurance cover. These items must be packaged well to avoid breakage.
When shipping to Lithuania you need to supply a breakdown of all the items you are sending unaccompanied. When you book through SendMyBag, we will send you a link where you can provide this information. It’s easy to do and will mean you avoid any delays whilst your items are being processed through customs.
Please ensure that all of the information you provide to us when booking your luggage is correct to avoid any disruption or delays. The zip code is vital for collection and delivery of your items, so ensure that these are correct before booking.
