Baggage Shipping to Malta
Important Malta Customs Information
Most countries offer a generous duty free allowance for personal effects and the majority of Send My Bag™ shipments worldwide will not be stopped by customs.
Personal effects are usually assessed as used items which have been in the sender's possession for 6 months or more. If your bag is checked by customs and is found to contain brand new or commercial items your shipment may be assessed for customs duties and taxes. If you are sending Christmas gifts please check with the destination country so you are aware of potential customs duties, follow their advice and attach all necessary documentation.
Customs processes and allowances do vary by country and as such we advise all travellers take 5 minutes to check how their personal circumstances and what they are sending will be assessed under the prevailing customs regulations of the destination.
More information is available in on our customs information page.
In order to demonstrate your shipment is personal effects you will be required to complete a brief non generic packing list online, entries to be made in the format: "5 x Cotton T-Shirts, 2 x Jeans, 3 x Cotton Shirt" and so on rather than as "10 x Used Clothing".

Malta is an archipelago in the Mediterranean made up of five islands – Malta, Gozo, Comino, Comminotto and Filflawith. Malta occupies an area of 321 km2 and has a population of 412, 655 people. This Eurozone country is one of Europe’s smallest countries, once ruled by the British until its independence in 1964. The climate of Malta is typically Mediterranean with hot and sunny summers and cooler winters, but with temperatures rarely dipping below 50°F. The heat of a summer’s day is often tempered by pleasant sea breezes. The country’s capital is Valletta, which has a population of 198,000 people. It is a very historical city with many architectural highlights. Valletta has been chosen as the 2018 European Capital of Culture.
Malta is an excellent vacation destination due to its warm climate, its beaches, its historical sites and many other attractions.
Attractions include Calypso Cave, which is said to be the cave that Homer wrote about in The Odyssey. There are several museums to take in, including the Basilica Museum and the Cathedral Museum on Gozo, Casa Bernard – a late 16th-century palazzo – and the beautiful palace, Casa Rocca Piccola.
Malta and Gozo are ideal for walking expeditions, particularly around their rugged coasts. You can also enjoy sports such as windsurfing, snorkeling, jet and water skiing. For days spent lounging on the beach, the best spots include Paradise Bay and Armier, or Ramla l-Ħamra on Gozo. Other, busier, beaches include Mellieħa Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa and Golden Bay.
