EasyJet To Resume Some Flights in June

EasyJet have announced they will resume some services from June 15 and have outlined the extra safety measures being put in place to protect against coronavirus.

A “small number” of routes will resume with easyJet chief executive Johan Lundgren stating this forms part of “small and carefully planned steps.” Domestic services in both the UK and France will be the focus, while some flights will also resume between Portugal, Switzerland and Spain. 

In the UK, easyJet will fly between a number of airports including but not limited to; Gatwick, Bristol, Edinburgh and Belfast. Meanwhile, only one international flight will operate out of the country, to Nice. 

Mr Lundgren does however continue to state that further routes will be announced over the coming weeks “as customer demand increases” and upon the easing of lockdown measures across Europe.

Measures being implemented to prevent spread of coronavirus include passengers and flight crew being required to wear face masks, enhanced cleaning and disinfection of aircraft, and the availability of disinfectant wipes and hand sanitiser on board. EasyJet have also decided to remove their onboard food service. 

The Luton-based airline are the latest to detail their return after both Ryanair and Wizz Air also revealed they would be starting flights again. All require passengers to wear masks, while latest advice from the European Aviation Safety Agency stops short of requiring social distancing on board aircraft due to its confined nature.

EasyJet recently revealed a cyber-attack affecting 9 million customers’ personal information.
