How does the UK leaving the EU (Brexit) affect Send My Bag services?

Send My Bag has been preparing for the UK's exit from the EU for some time, customers will notice the following changes:

- In late October we will suspend bookings for shipments between the UK and EU (including some non EU countries such as Norway and Switzerland which are served by our European road service) for collection after December 22nd 2020.

- Later in 2020 we will resume accepting bookings between the UK and EU for collection dates from c. 11th January 2021 onwards. For collections from this date onwards the customer will now be asked to make a customs declaration, as for example our USA customers already do when sending to the EU.

Why can I not send between the UK & EU between 22 December - c. 11 January?

On 31st December 2020 the transition period for the UK to leave the EU will end. The future relationship has still not been agreed and as such neither the UK nor EU have been able to take the necessary steps to safeguard the smooth running of the logistics networks between the two at the end of the transition period.

At present the logistics industry predicts potentially severe delays from late December through to January. We are not prepared to offer a potentially compromised service across this period and instead we have taken the tough decision to suspend services between the UK & EU for 2-3 weeks.  We appreciate your custom and understanding.
